Please register online by going to www.guilfordfreelibrary.org or stop by in person or call 203-453-8282.
Please join the Witness Stones Committee for the launch of their new book club. Community members are invited to take part in a thought-provoking discussion of Kindred by Octavia Butler. The conversation will be led and facilitated by Witness Stone Committee members Hazel V. Carby, the Charles C. and Dorathea S. Dilley Professor of African American Studies and Professor of American Studies at Yale University, and Donna Daniels, Ph.D., Management Consultant and Cultural Anthropologist.
Community members are encouraged to read Kindred in advance of the book club discussion. A number of copies of the book are available at the library. At this first meeting, the group will also discuss future book selections and determine a schedule. We hope to see you there!
Through research, education, and civic engagement, the Witness Stones Project seeks to restore the history and to honor the humanity and contributions of the enslaved individuals who helped build our communities.
